AI in SRU's Academic Integrity Policy

The University's Academic Integrity Policy establishes standards and expectations for academic integrity, Specifically, with regard to AI, see the following:

Academic Integrity Expectations:

  • Students are responsible for understanding the difference between the generation of their own work and using artificial intelligence in the generation of work. It is the student’s, not the faculty member’s, responsibility to ensure that use of artificial intelligence is appropriate to the context of the course.

Violations Defined:

  • Submitting work generated by artificial intelligence as your own

Citing Generative AI Tools

As a student at SRU, you must ensure that use of AI tools is:

1. Appropriate to the context of the course.

2. Cited in your work, to acknowledge use of such tools.

For example, perhaps you use an AI tool to assist with creating a virtual environment for an assignment in your Computer Science course. You would want to acknowledge this by citing the tool(s) you consulted along with a brief explanation.

This virtual environment class project was developed with the assistance ChatGPT.
