Bailey Library Resources IMC

Welcome to the IMC

The IMC supports teacher education students at SRU, and the collection includes instructional materials, professional teaching resources, PA state-adopted textbooks, big books, and children's and young adult literature.

The IMC is located on the second floor of Bailey Library.

IMC material can be checked out at the 1st Floor's Circulation desk.

For assistance or to schedule a tour, contact Dr. Jordan.

How are the IMC's materials organized?

Many K-12 school libraries use the Dewey Decimal Classification, which is different from the Library of Congress classification commonly used in college and university libraries. (The Library of Congress classification system is the one used to organize most of the collections in. Bailey Library.) Getting familiar with Dewey will help you find resources in the Instructional Materials Center.

The Dewey Decimal System uses 10 broad classifications:

  • 000 - 099 = General Works, Computer Science & Information
  • 100 - 199 = Philosophy & Psychology
  • 200 - 299 = Religion
  • 300 - 399 = Social sciences
  • 400 - 499 = Language
  • 500 - 599 = Science
  • 600 - 699 = Technology
  • 700 - 799 = Arts & recreation
  • 800 - 899 = Literature
  • 900 - 999 = History & Geography
