Empirical Research

An empirical research article reports research based on actual observation or experiment. 

The research can be quantitative or qualitative

  • Quantitative: uses numerical data to establish a relationships between two or more variables. 
  • Qualitative: objectively and critically examine behaviors, beliefs, feelings, with few or no numerical data for analysis.

It is published in an academic/scholarly/peer-review journal

The abstract mentions the type of study with the number of sample used
