Distance Learning: Visiting Campus

Library orientation and advice for students and faculty in distance/online classes.

Visiting Basics

Depending on your location and your program, you may want or need to visit campus to take exams, meet with professors or fellow students, use the library, or for other reasons.  The following are a few links to help you plan your visit.

  • Parking permits are required at all times, including evenings, weekends, and breaks.  Pick up a visitor's permit at the Parking Office, located in the University Union Building, during business hours.  If you need to obtain a permit when the parking office isn't open, go to the University Police office on Kiester Road.

  • Obtaining your university ID card makes it easier to access library materials and other privileges available to you as an SRU student.  The ID office is located in Watson Hall, in the residence hall area in the northeast part of campus.  Call 724-738-2100 to inquire about when they are open.

There are many places to get a meal in Slippery Rock, on and off campus.  A meal plan is not required for any of the dining facilities on campus--you can pay with cash or a credit/debit card.

  • For the full college-student experience, go to Boozel dining hall, just up the hill from the library.  Pay a flat price and choose your meal from a variety of stations: pizza, pasta, salad, sandwiches, and specials of the day.  Have as much as you like; beverages and desserts are included.  Librarian recommended!
  • Weisenfluh dining hall, on the west end of campus, has a variety of a la carte items, including sushi, rice bowls, and burgers.
