Library Orientation Guide: Technology Learning Center, Laptop Room, and Writing Center

This guide provides an overview of Bailey Library, its layout, services, and how to use them.

Your Library Card

Your SRU One-Card functions as your library card.  It is used to check out books, borrow laptops or other equipment within the library, and to access electronic or online resources from the comfort of your apartment, home, or residence hall.

Pay particular attention to your library barcode: the sixteen digit number below your name.  You may need this number to access on-line resources while off campus.

Technology Learning Center

Located on the 1st floor, the Technology Learning Center (TLC) provides a creative and flexible environment designed to aid students in the learning process by providing a technologically equipped space that is staffed with peer experts. The TLC is in close proximity to research help available at the research services desk of Bailey Library.

Our technology includes three iMacs, three MacBook Pros, nine laptops, three book scanners, a color printer, T1 collaborative table and two SMARTBoards. In addition, headphones, phone chargers, converters and adapters are available for check-out to use within the library.

Services include peer-to-peer assistance with various software applications. Please walk-in or make an appointment. The TLC is open during all regular library hours.

Writing Center

Bailey Library is now home to the Writing Center. Located on the first floor, the Writing Center provides an environment for students to receive responses to their writing and to gain insight about the writing process as a whole. Qualified tutors collaborate with student writers, working with them to address their particular concerns. Writers in all disciplines are welcome.  Refer to the Writing Center link for additional information, including what to bring, what to expect, and how to help Writing Center tutors give you the help you need.
